How Porn Is Quietly Destroying Relationships - And What You Can Do About It
Nowadays, pornography is pulling couples apart, something that wasn’t such a big issue in the past. I’m saying this because I frequently focus on infidelity recovery and sexual intimacy enhancement situations, and have become very familiar with the often long- term negative effects of hardcore internet pornography on sexual intimacy, sexualperformance, trust, fidelity, and self-esteem in committed relationships. In short, I came across many marriages and relationships that were affected due to pornography.
 According to Covenant Eyes:
- Thirty-five percent of downloads from the internet are pornographic. Porn consumption is widespread forty million Americans admit to regularly visiting porn sites. Among young men aged 18–24, a staggering 70% visit at least once a month.
- Surprisingly, the highest consumption comes from men aged 35 to 49. The sex industry generates about $15 billion annually in the U.S., more than the combined revenue of Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the NBA, highlighting its massive cultural and economic impact.
- A total of 28,258 users watch pornography every second. Twelve percent of all content on the internet is pornographic.
- One in five mobile searches are for pornography.
- A huge 88% of porn scenes show some kind of physical aggression think hitting, choking, or rough handling while nearly half (49%) include verbal aggression like name-calling or yelling.
- Surprisingly, it’s not just isolated users; more porn subscriptions come from people living in cities, earning above-average incomes, and with higher education levels.
- Now, here is the troubling part most teens and young adults today don’t see a problem with porn. In fact, 90% of teens and 96% of young adults accept or even support it.
- Only 55% of adults over 25 believe that porn is wrong. Even more shocking
many teens and young adults think not recycling is worse than watching porn. - And when it comes to relationships, the numbers are just as eye-opening. In 68% of divorce cases, one partner had met someone new online.
- In 56% of those cases, one partner was obsessively using porn sites. These stats show just how deeply pornography can affect how we view sex, relationships, and even right and wrong.
Let’s talk about something serious, pornography addiction. It’s not just about screen
time; it can lead to isolation, anxiety, depression, compulsive sexual behavior, and even
erectile dysfunction. What’s more alarming is how easily children are exposed to it
sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose. Just one exposure to hardcore porn
can impact a child’s developing brain. Some kids get hooked fast, and there’s even a
link between porn and sex trafficking. This issue runs deeper than we think.
